Sarinda is a stringed instrument with a hollow wooden body made from one piece of wood. The lower part is covered with a thin wooden strip which extends into a finger board, upon which seven to nine strings are tensioned. Sarinda comes from the Persian word surayinda, meaning "producer of tunes." The sarinda is usually accompanied by the rubab and tabla.
