The boreendo is probably one of the oldest instruments in the world, with the oldest example of the instrument being found in the excavations of Mohenjodaro, the grand city of the Indus Valley Civilization which flourished more than 4000 years ago. The boreendo is basically a clay sphere with well placed holes that one blows into to produce a haunting and lilting wind sound. Today there are just a couple of masters who still make and play the instrument.
