Raanti is one of the most ancient indigenous stringed musical instruments to be played with a bow in Pakistan. Belonging to the Marwari culture of the former princely states of Rajasthan, known as Rajputana, today it can be found in the Cholistan desert of Pakistan, which extends into the state of Rajasthan in India. In Pakistan Raanti is still played by the Bheel and Manganhaar communities settled in the Rahim Yar Khan District located in Southern Punjab.
